1. Clean the downdraft path

   Downdraft venting is Jenn-Air's signature feature, and it collects grease along a longer duct than a range hood does. When it stops pulling smoke well, it's usually the duct or the filter, not the blower motor everyone suspects.

2. Uneven shelf temperature is airflow, not the compressor

   If the temperature changes from shelf to shelf but the fridge is mostly cold, look at the circulation fan. A failing sealed refrigerant system warms the whole fridge at once. Those are two very different repairs.

3. Reset the door alignment after any service

   These are built in, often behind a door panel that matches the cabinets, so once the unit's been pulled forward the door has to be lined up again. If it isn't, the seal never sits right. You get frost, and a fridge that runs all the time.

4. Easy-to-get parts are a real plus here

5. Vacuum the condenser twice a year
