Most no-cool calls aren't a dead compressor. Nine times out of ten it's the start relay (the little switch that kicks the compressor on), the condenser fan motor, or coils packed solid with dust. Arizona is hard on refrigerators. At 110 to 115 degrees the compressor barely gets a rest, and a unit in the garage is working in heat it was never built for.

The most useful thing to know about fixing a Jenn-Air is that it runs on Whirlpool’s parts network. Parts are easy to get, and the wait is short compared with luxury brands that keep their own separate supply chains. These are high-end built-in fridges, many with a door panel that matches the cabinets, so they come with the usual built-in concerns: flush cabinets, custom door panels, and door alignment that has to be set right again after any repair that pulls the unit forward. The problems we see over and over are the evaporator fan (it moves the cold air around inside), the defrost circuit and the door seals, in that order. Work on the sealed refrigerant system, which has to be opened with special tools and training, is less common. If the whole fridge is slowly getting warmer, check the condenser first. In Arizona it clogs with dust a lot faster than the service schedule expects. If some shelves are warmer than others, that points at airflow instead, and that's a cheaper, smaller repair. Telling those two apart before we quote is most of what a good check is worth.
