Most no-cool calls aren't a dead compressor. Nine times out of ten it's the start relay (the little switch that kicks the compressor on), the condenser fan motor, or coils packed solid with dust. Thermador refrigerators are built on the BSH platform, the same one Bosch uses, and that matters in a practical way. Parts are easier to get than for most luxury brands, and a tech who knows Bosch already knows most of this equipment. The Freedom column units are the ones we see most. Their usual problems are the evaporator fan, the defrost heater and the door seals, nothing exotic. Columns are installed flush, often side by side as a fridge and freezer pair, so after any repair that means pulling a unit forward, the alignment and door seals have to be set right. The first thing to figure out is whether one column is acting up or both. Each column runs on its own system. If both are drifting at once, look for something they share, like a clogged condenser or hot air around them. If only one is, the problem is inside that unit. In Arizona, a condenser clogged with dust is a real cause, and we see it again and again.
