Gritty dishes are usually the filter or the spray arm, not the pump. Our water runs 16 to 28 grains here, which is very hard, so the little holes in the spray arms scale shut and the arm stops reaching the top rack. Standing water in the bottom is a drain problem, often the air gap (the little cap next to the faucet) or a kinked hose under the sink.

Thermador dishwashers are built on the same BSH platform as Bosch. That makes them some of the easier luxury dishwashers to service, and it means parts really are available, not just on paper. The calls we see again and again are the drain pump, the door seal and the water fill valve. These machines are also built to run very quietly, and that has a real downside. A failing wash motor or circulation pump is much harder to hear than in a louder machine, so the first sign is usually dishes not getting clean, not noise. People end up blaming the detergent or how they loaded it when the problem is mechanical. Check the filter and spray arms first. They're free to look at and cause a good share of not-cleaning calls. If the dishwasher is built in behind a custom panel, pulling it out takes longer, and the panel has to be lined up again afterward.
