Tumbling but not heating is the thermal fuse or the heating element, and a thermal fuse almost never blows without a reason. That reason is nearly always poor airflow, so if you replace the fuse without clearing the vent, the new one just blows too.

Most Miele dryers sold here are heat-pump condenser dryers, not vented ones, and that changes almost every repair. A heat-pump dryer has no vent to the outside. It pulls the moisture out by condensing it into water. So when clothes take too long or come out damp, it's far more often a clogged condenser filter or a full condensate tank (the water tank) than a heating problem. There's no heating element to burn out like the one in a vented dryer. The heat-pump system is sealed, and it's the expensive part. On this dryer, more than almost any other, we need to know whether it's a filter problem or a heat-pump problem before we quote. Miele filters come in several stages, and every stage needs cleaning. That's the thing owners miss most. If the problem really is inside the sealed heat-pump system, the machine's age decides whether the repair makes sense, and we'll tell you straight.
