Gritty dishes are usually the filter or the spray arm, not the pump. Our water runs 16 to 28 grains here, which is very hard, so the little holes in the spray arms scale shut and the arm stops reaching the top rack. Standing water in the bottom is a drain problem, often the air gap (the little cap next to the faucet) or a kinked hose under the sink.

Miele builds its dishwashers for a stated twenty-year life, and it designs them differently from the rest of the market. That changes what a repair means on one. Parts are made for Miele and aren't shared across a bigger platform, so they take longer to get. A generic part isn't a real option, because the machine is built to fit the exact part it was designed around. Our most common calls are the drain pump, the door seal and the water fill valve (the valve that lets water into the machine). All three are single-part repairs, and they're worth doing on a machine that may have ten more years in it. Miele fault codes tell you something specific, not just "error," so a code read off the display narrows things down a lot before anyone opens the machine. That makes the visit shorter. Newer models with AutoDos and built-in detergent dosing have their own problems around the dispenser, and we pin those down from the model number before ordering any part.
