LG Refrigerator Repair

Most no-cool calls aren't a dead compressor. Nine times out of ten it's the start relay (the little switch that kicks the compressor on), the condenser fan motor, or coils packed solid with dust. Arizona is hard on refrigerators. At 110 to 115 degrees the compressor barely gets a rest, and a unit in the garage is working in heat it was never built for.

On an LG fridge, the linear compressor decides how things go, so we check it carefully before we quote anything. If the fridge runs all the time, never gets cold enough, and the freezer's warm too, that points at the sealed refrigerant system (it has to be opened with special tools and training), not a fan or a damper. That's a different repair at a different price. It also takes EPA 608 certification to do legally, because it means handling refrigerant. Plenty of other problems look exactly the same, though, and have nothing to do with the refrigerant. A dead evaporator fan, a stuck damper (a small flap that lets cold air into the fridge side) or a dead defrost heater will each cause poor cooling for a fraction of the cost. Telling them apart is the job, and we do it before we quote, not after. Check the model and serial before you pay for anything, too. LG has extended coverage on some compressors, and yours may still be covered. Ice makers and water valves are the other common LG calls, and both are smaller repairs.
