Tumbling but not heating is the thermal fuse or the heating element, and a thermal fuse almost never blows without a reason. That reason is nearly always poor airflow, so if you replace the fuse without clearing the vent, the new one just blows too.

GE dryers work like every other dryer, and there's a short list of things that go wrong, so they're cheap to keep running. When one won't heat, it's the heating element, the thermal fuse or the thermostat. That fuse matters more than its price. It's a safety part, not something that wears out. It blows because the air couldn't get out, so if you put in a new one without clearing the vent line, the next one blows too. We check the vent every time. Noise on a GE dryer is usually the drum bearing or the idler pulley. Both make plenty of noise before they fail, so catching it at the rumbling stage keeps it a cheap repair. If it takes several cycles to dry a load, that's almost always an airflow problem, not the heat. And a clogged vent doesn't just waste power. It's a fire risk.
