Gritty dishes are usually the filter or the spray arm, not the pump. Our water runs 16 to 28 grains here, which is very hard, so the little holes in the spray arms scale shut and the arm stops reaching the top rack. Standing water in the bottom is a drain problem, often the air gap (the little cap next to the faucet) or a kinked hose under the sink.

Frigidaire dishwashers are simple machines with a short list of things that go wrong. That fits the price, and the rentals most of them go into. Most calls are the drain pump or the water inlet valve (the valve where water comes into the dishwasher). Both are cheap parts and quick to put in. With standing water, don't jump to the pump. A clogged drain hose, or an air gap (the little cap by the faucet the drain hose runs through) put in wrong at install, does the same thing and costs nothing in parts. In newer homes, install mistakes are really common. The door latch is the usual reason a "dead" dishwasher isn't dead. It won't start unless it can tell the door is shut. Dirty dishes are almost always the filter or the spray arms, not the electronics, and both cost nothing to check.
