Amana fridges are simple Whirlpool-built machines that cool both sides from a single evaporator, the cold coil behind the freezer wall. That makes them quick to figure out, and the parts are cheap. If the fridge side is warm and the freezer is cold, look at the evaporator fan or a stuck damper (the little door that lets cold air into the fridge side), not the compressor. The cold is all made in one spot, and the trouble is almost always getting it over to the fridge side. Defrost is the other common call. A plugged defrost drain shows up as water under the crisper drawers, and it's about the cheapest repair on the whole fridge. On an Amana, the thing that matters most is the condenser coils (the grille of tubes under or behind the fridge), even more than on a better-built fridge. These are built to a price, so there's less room for error. Dust-packed coils in an Arizona garage will kill the compressor years early. Vacuuming the coils twice a year really does add life to one of these.
